My Vision for Prairie Village

I envision a Prairie Village where residents—not politicians—set the priorities. A city that invests in infrastructure over image, neighborhoods over bureaucracy, and transparency over shortcuts.

I want to preserve what makes Prairie Village special—our tight-knit community, safe streets, and welcoming neighborhoods—while ensuring growth is thoughtful, inclusive, and guided by the people who live here.

My vision is a city where every resident has a voice in major decisions, where public trust is earned through open government, and where we focus our resources on what truly improves lives—not just what looks good on paper.

Get to Know Daniel Garrett

Daniel Garrett is a husband, father, attorney, and small business owner who is proud to call Prairie Village home. After a decade-long career in higher education leadership, Daniel transitioned to running his own bar exam preparation company and now works as an attorney focusing on estate planning, probate, and real estate law. He holds a law degree from Loyola Law School and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Daniel is a member of the California, Kansas, and Missouri Bar Associations and brings a deep understanding of law, finance, and public accountability to the table.

Originally from the Kansas City area, Daniel returned in 2022 with his wife Victoria and their two children, Myles and Rosemary, in search of a close-knit community. Now living in Ward 1, he is committed to preserving the integrity and livability of Prairie Village for current and future families.

Daniel has a long history of civic engagement, including advocacy for foster youth, volunteer legal services, and nonprofit board service. He believes public service means listening first and leading with transparency, fairness, and facts. His campaign centers on two core values: Trust and Transparency. That means giving residents a voice—especially when it comes to major public spending.

Daniel is running for city council to ensure that decisions like the proposed $30 million city hall project are made with public input, not behind closed doors. He believes every resident deserves a vote on major issues affecting their taxes, neighborhoods, and city priorities.

Daniel's Focus

Community Safety

Safe neighborhoods require responsive government. I will support effective public safety services while promoting accountability and transparency in enforcement.

Accountability in Spending

I will fight to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely—with full transparency and public input. No more blank checks for big projects without a vote.

Zoning that Reflects Residents

Development should respect the character of our neighborhoods. I will work to ensure zoning changes prioritize livability and reflect the will of the community.

Strong Infrastructure

We need to prioritize roads, stormwater, and aging infrastructure over vanity projects. I’ll work to keep our city functional and future-ready.

Resident-First Governance

Major decisions should never be made behind closed doors. I will champion open forums, town halls, and policies that give residents a real voice.

Protecting What We’ve Built

Prairie Village is a place worth preserving. I will work to maintain the welcoming, stable, and connected community that brought so many of us here.
